Utopia

As I stare at this serene Buddha like figure, fucia behind ear, dipping his slender finger into a pool of platinum, I am aware that the borderline between good and evil is so fine. As fine as a newborn's hair, or the sights on a rifle. What may begin as one may change to the other and both can exist in the same being.

When embarking on this theme, even close family tried to convince me that war is a natural state for man. So complete is our training. Yes, we have destructive natures. But how much more creative are we? To lash out in self-defence is one completely different situation to the mass training, over years, of a select few, with the intent of sophisticated manslaughter. I do not believe this is human nature. It is manipulation of the forces within human nature.

Peace is surely the most desirable goal in any situation. This piece suggests that when humans are in harmony with ourselves, each other, nature and the elements which surround and support us, then Utopia will be achieved.
